Under his direction the "Pastoral Symphony" and the Fifth Symphony were heard whereupon the master himself played his Fourth Piano Concerto and the piano part of the Fantasy, opus 80. FANTASY FOR PIANO, CHORUS AND ORCHESTRA, OPUS 80 Title page with dedication to Maximilian Josef, King of Bavaria The work, written in 1808, for the first time in musical history uses the human voice like an instrument and thereby provides a model for the Finale of the Ninth Symphony.
